The VeriSeq™ Platform
The Buildable eDNA Metabarcoding Solution
The VeriSeq™ platform is a modular eDNA metabarcoding solution designed for absolute scalability. Affordable, flexible, and fully comparable year over year.
Consistent methods are what make comparison possible. Whether you’re running a multi-decade monitoring program, comparing conditions across several sites in one project, or collecting a baseline you might want to reference years from now, the same principle applies.

The VeriSeq™ Platform architecture
Start with a core, build what you need
VeriSeq™ runs as two parallel tracks: Oceans and Freshwater. Your monitoring is built around the environment you’re working in from day one. Every VeriSeq project starts with a Core panel: a fixed set of 6 markers that stays exactly the same for every sample and every year. Think of it as your baseline reading, a consistent way of monitoring what lives in your system. The VeriSeq Core panel targets the species most commonly monitored in biodiversity surveys. Its 6 markers work together to reliably capture a wide range of taxa in your ecosystem, with overlapping coverage that reduces the risk of missed detections.
Layer on Enhanced modules on top of your Core. Focused add-on markers that target specific species or concerns, without disturbing your foundation data. Add one module this year, another next year: your original baseline stays intact and comparable the whole time

Why comparability matters

VeriSeq Core Panels and Enhanced Modules
To ensure seamless project execution from start to finish, our standard per-sample pricing for VeriSeq Core Panels and Enhanced Modules encompasses the complete suite of deliverables listed below.

Consultation
Before any sampling begins, you will consult with one of our experts to optimize your sampling design. We will discuss project-specific replication strategies, the appropriate use of field blanks, and any enhanced markers tailored to meet your unique research requirements. This creates a project sampling design.

Sample Processing (Flat Filters)
We perform DNA extraction, PCR amplification across six markers (eight replicates each), internal negative controls, and Illumina NovaSeq sequencing. This covers flat/disc filters in desiccant or liquid. Other filter types (e.g., Sterivex) incur a $10/sample surcharge and extended turnaround times.

Bioinformatic Analysis
Sequencing results are analyzed using strictly version-controlled bioinformatic pipelines to ensure accuracy and reproducibility. Furthermore, all data processing is conducted securely on Canadian servers, guaranteeing strict adherence to national data privacy standards throughout your project.

Biodiversity Intelligence Report
Standard comprehensive outputs include DNA concentration per sample, detailed sequencing statistics (e.g., assigned reads per sample), full taxonomic data tables with assigned reads, site-specific tables of detected species, and a complete overview table of the full species output.
Additional Services
In addition to the VeriSeq Core and Enhanced services, we offer data management and training courses to suit your specific project needs.
Data
Management
We meticulously process your biodiversity data into FAIRe format, or prepare it for seamless submission to OBIS or GBIF databases. Pricing is determined on a per-project basis to suit your unique needs.
Training
Options
We provide a wide array of comprehensive individual and group training opportunities covering all aspects of eDNA. Please contact our team to discuss your goals and let us design a program for your needs.
Raw Read
Data Analysis
Upon request, we provide full access to your raw, unedited sequencing data in FASTQ format. This allows your team to verify findings, run custom bioinformatics, or safely archive all foundational data.
